About Family Works

About Family Works - who we are and what we do.

Welcome to FamilyWorks!

FamilyWorks, a food bank and family resource center, nourishes and strengthens individuals and families by connecting people with support, resources and community.

Our vision is for a vibrant and healthy community with strong well-nourished families as the foundation. Through the food bank and resource center we offer “food for the body and food for the soul” where people can find nutrition, information, and most importantly a community that they can be a part of.

We believe in the power of the family support principles, which help guide us in our work, ultimately strengthening our relationships with people who come to FamilyWorks and with our community as a whole.

FamilyWorks owes our earliest beginnings to Solid Ground

(formerly the Fremont Public Association), as they contributed staff resources and a VISTA volunteer (Janet Buttenweiser) to build a Board of Directors and establish this separate non-profit. FamilyWorks was officially incorporated in December of 1995.  To this day, we remain in close partnership with Solid Ground to serve people in need.

As we celebrate our 12th year, FamilyWorks would like to thank all of the people who have contributed to making this organization a vital resource in our community, by volunteering your time, helping lead a workshop, donating money, kids clothing, toys and books, serving as a Board member, being a partner with us and for all the many ways you have helped. Thank you!
