Adobe receives End Hunger Award

Adobe Systems Incorporated received the Mayor’s End Hunger Award for community service, presented by Mayor Greg Nickels at the Palace Ballroom on October 22, 2007.  Adobe is unique in that it has an integrated practice of community service and giving throughout every level of the organization.  They have a deep-rooted passion for giving back to the community through meaningful partnerships with non-profit organizations.

FamilyWorks is fortunate to be one of these partners. Not only has Adobe been giving financially to support the food bank and resource center since 2000 but they have also participated in special projects and activities, such as organizing knitters to make quilts for our auction, coordinating a number of food, hygiene, milk and baby drives and participating in fund raising events as needs arise.

The most important indicator of their commitment to community service is their weekly group volunteerism at the FamilyWorks Food Bank.  Each week a group of enthusiastic, hard working Adobe employees spend their lunchtime are the food bank, sorting, packaging and crafting for distribution.  Each group does this work with great commitment and pleasure in their ability to serve the community.  It is something they feel required to do but do it from the heart, and Adobe Systems is proud to support these volunteer activities.

One of our Adobe volunteers mentioned that she use to rely on the food bank and never thought she’d be in this position, working for Adobe and be able to volunteer at a food bank to help others.

Thank you, Adobe, for your contribution to ending hunger in our community.
