This free program is designed to provide support to parents up to 23 years of age. The program has a support group, a home visiting program, and individual advocacy. Sign up for our free 7 week parenting class from March 14-April 25 (Positive Discipline) from 5:30-7:30. Call Gladys on Tuesday afternoons and Thursdays at 694-6729 for more information.
We provide parenting and individual support, field trips, access to resources, opportunities for sharing/networking, and advocacy. The Teen/Young Parent support group meets at the North Seattle Family Center (3200 NE 125th St--in the Lake City neighborhood) An additional part of the program is having the opportunity to be part of the Parents As Teachers home visiting program. This program includes visits at home or at an agreed upon location and provides individualized parenting information and support. Positive Discipline
Tools for Respectful and Resourceful Families
Join in with other parents for this fun, hands-on, seven week parenting class. This is a free class based on the positive discipline approach and facilitated by Colleen Maxwell. Explore some ideas for long term parenting skills that can encourage and motivate responsibility, respect and cooperation in your family. Learn to better understand misbehavior and bring more joy into your family with non-punitive, respectful methods that are both kind and firm. Bring questions and experiences to share—topics might include: problem solving, dealing with sibling issues, and positive communication skills.
