We provide parenting and individual support, field trips, access to resources, opportunities for sharing/networking, and advocacy.  The Teen/Young Parent support group meets at the North Seattle Family Center (3200 NE 125th St--in the Lake City neighborhood)  An additional part of the program is having the opportunity to be part of the Parents As Teachers home visiting program.  This program includes visits at home or at an agreed upon location and provides individualized parenting information and support. From March 14-April 25 we are offering this free parenting class for teens who are parents:

 Positive Discipline
     Tools for Respectful and Resourceful Families

     Join in with other parents for this fun, hands-on, seven week parenting class.  This is a free class based on the positive discipline approach and facilitated by Colleen Maxwell. Explore some ideas for long term parenting skills that can encourage and motivate responsibility, respect and cooperation in your family. Learn to better understand misbehavior and bring more joy into your family with non-punitive, respectful methods that are both kind and firm. Bring questions and experiences to share—topics might include: problem solving, dealing with sibling issues, and positive communication skills.
